The progression that won’t die, now with TV series tie-in.
The Fray have a new tune out and it’s being used as the official promo for the TV show Lost. The hook? Our old friend emin, C, G, D. Currently Beyonce’s If I were a Boy is number six on itunes while the Fray tune is number 11, although I think it only came out today. So, if you wanna hit, snag ya some emin, C, G, D and go to town.

The song list grows
I’ve add three more songs to the list of songs using the emin, C, G, D progression to achieve mass appeal. We have tunes by Toto, Bruce Springsteen and Kelly Clarkson. added to the list. It can be reviewed in its current state here. Also, to find the list in the future I’ve put a link in the sidebar under the title “Many songs, one progression.” Jump in with your own contributions.

New category. The progression more common than Hondas.
I’ve mentioned before my preoccupation with the number of songs that feature the progression Emin, C, G, D. In the fifties it would have been G Emin C, D, but then, what with all the fruit basket turnover of the sixties it morphed into the Emin, C, G, D we’ve lived with for a long, long time.
