My guess is someone thought Michelle Obama’s disturbing quote was getting too much press.
Hence, this from the New York Times, which cites anonymous sources who, the NYT says, were sometimes corroborated by other anonymous sources in detailing the apparently unsuccessful efforts of a lobbyist to influence events in D.C. through McCain.
I thought it was an opinion piece, but apparently not.
My guess is that someone was measuring column inches and on-air minutes dedicated to Michelle Obama and this critical time in the dem campaign, and decided to take some of the heat off her, since she wasn’t doing such a good job herself. The reason I suspect that is because this story seems based on the same journalistic standards as graffiti.
This story, no matter how unready for prime time editorially, served a purpose — to bump Michelle Obama’s disturbing comment down the news results list on Google. Though this Washington Post story says the New York Times endorsed McCain. What? Seriously? They could really make some news if they withdraw the endorsement. Breeeeeeeliant.
