Technically, both I suppose, but tt’s a Gold Tone steel body resonator, round neck, so you play it normally, not in the lap. Just arrived yesterday. Tweaked the neck a little and it plays great. Also has a lipstick pickup (I think mixed with some other acoustic pickup) and sounds very good amped or unamped, even though the body is slimmer than standard acoustics.
