Circuit City and my Panasonic PT50LC13 TV: Update.

I sent a letter to Circuit City’s attorneys asking for a name of whom I should name as a defendant when I bring the case to small claims court. (My previous efforts to gather the manager’s name of the store where I bought the nightmare TV failed because no Circuit City employees knew the full name of their store manager. The best they could do was an abbreviation.)

I received a letter today from a Circuit City executive assistant, to whom the legal department must have de-escalated my issue. In that letter, a fellow named Justin wrote that I do not qualify for the class action remedy, according to their records.

They have records? They never left me any receipts with me when they replaced my many bulbs, the image engine (twice) and the ballast. Justin did manage to list some of their visits, more than any of the City Advantage phone drones have come up with on my many, many calls.  Justin listed a replacement for light (lite?)  engine, and for a lamp, and one for a cable. And then (this is my fave) one visit with no part replaced. Did I call a tech out here to play cards?

Missing from the account — (at a minimum) — is another image engine replacement (I remember two replacements because one  bad engine left a blue dot on my screen and another a green dot,)  a ballast and lamp. And another lamp replaced locally nine months after I bought the Panasonic PT50LC13. I’m fairly certain there’s more, but I might have to reinstall an old database to find the log reference.

I explained to Justin that Pansonic had told me on the phone midway through all these failures that I qualified for the class action suit. I told him that his records are incomplete, and that I still want  the name of an individual to bring to small claims court. I further told him that in court I will claim compensation for my time over years for dealing with this insanity.

Justin closed his letter by expressing his appreciation for my business. He looks forward to meeting my consumer electronics and entertainment needs.

You keep looking, Justin. And while you’re at it, look for all of the repair records for this infamously awful television.
