Bulletin!
Squirrel Wars continue this year with support in rodent insurgency from rats.
Yesterday the Wife Unit reported enemy movements above the laundry area, whose ceiling is now pockmarked with broom handle indentations in previous efforts to encourage retreat through non-lethal means.
At approximately 12:00 today I heard activation of a Victor Rat Trap in the attic theater of operations. Audio analysis of the event suggests an enemy squirrel casualty, judging by the volume of FAA (flopping around activity) on trap activation and previous loud, unguided, staccato trompings indicative or squirrel movements.
Reconnoiter is scheduled for the post-nap period. Out.
UPDATE: We have disappointing news. Intel misidentified the the attic sounds as a kill, when in fact, no body was recovered. Inspection of the perimeter revealed fresh use of a known point of entry. Units will be dispatched tomorrow to secure the area with hardware cloth.
The 66 Powermaster is loaded, safety on. We will gather ammo this evening.
