About

My name is Fred Leo, and my background includes small town journalism, military-industrial PR, and then advertising. These days I’m enjoying the big bang of media and communication, the blurring of lines, and the evolving continuum of persuasion.

Professionally I wrangle a blog for my friends who have built a marketing content management system with aspirations of becoming more of a marketing OS. I also write and produce radio, name products, help forge strategies and other fun elements in the Rubik’s cube of communications and marketing.

In my spare time I write, cartoon, and compose some form of music, some of it’s free and some for sale in the store. Occasionally, they’re both free and for sale, just to keep things confusing.

Here are radio spots I’ve written and produced along with some good ones that should have been produced. I’m no voice actor, but here’s a sample of my voiceover style. Here’s a convenient amalgam of the above in one convenient file — some radio spots I’ve produced, some voiceover, and some music.

I wrote a TV pilot that did well in various competitions, then faded into cyber obscurity. The point of the pilot, obviously, was to demonstrate the concept, which in this case was to make advertising a character. Here’s the PDF. And here’s the webby incarnation in glorious html.

This will also, probably, be the new home of A Moment with Harry, a podcast with my former art director partner from ad agency days. Harry lives in very rural Mississippi.

I wander around various social networks, Facebook and Adgabber, mostly.
